Brake Training School to Help Technicians Improve Air and Foundation
Brake Knowledge
Training Course, Tailored to New
and Experienced Technicians, Kicks Off in March
Both new and experienced technicians can
gain time-saving and cost-saving expertise from the 2009 edition of the
all-inclusive Brake Training School offered by Bendix Commercial Vehicle
Systems LLC, the North American leader in commercial vehicle safety and
braking system technologies.
The comprehensive Bendix Brake Training
School curriculum – conducted by veteran 100 percent ASE-certified
Bendix Service, Warranty, and Training (SWAT) team experts – teaches
maintenance professionals the description, operation, and service
elements for the total range of components found within foundation and
air brake systems. The Bendix Brake Training School includes detailed
classroom lectures and operational demonstrations.
The 2009 Bendix Brake Training School
will kick off on Tuesday, March 31, in Cambridge, Ontario. Bendix began
offering training schools more than 50 years ago, making it among the
longest running programs in the industry. To date, more than 250,000
people have successfully completed Bendix training.
"Bendix Brake Training School will help
technicians maintain and improve their knowledge about braking systems,
allowing fleets and owner-operators to decrease downtime and service
costs," said John Reid, Bendix SWAT team manager. "Bendix Brake School
attendees represent a cross section of product and service personnel
from fleets and other organizations. Bendix offers the course to keep
them apprised of the latest technical information regarding the
operation and service of air brake and foundation brake systems. Bendix
Brake Training School is an important element to help keep trucks in
good working order and, ultimately, help ensure highway safety for
drivers and others on the roadway."
Participants will learn from a curriculum
that includes the fundamentals of compressed air; tactics for air system
failure mode diagnosis and troubleshooting; and air brake system and
foundation brake components, including air compressors, valves,
foundation drum brakes and air disc brakes, slack adjusters, brake
chambers, shoes, and drums.
Additional topics covered include
antilock braking systems (ABS) and stability technologies such as the
Bendix® ESP® Electronic Stability Program. Participants receive a
comprehensive workbook, enabling them to take their lessons home with
them.
The school has continued to benefit from
a constant stream of referrals from past attendees.
The course will be offered in nearly 20
cities across the United States and Canada. For a full listing of
locations and dates, visit www.bendix.com.
Class size is limited, and enrollment is
