2nd June 2009 - LINK ENGINEERING COMPANY Announces the Model 3802 – A New Portable Data Acquisition System

Plymouth, MI Link Engineering announced the release of a new portable data acquisition system, the Model 3802. The Model 3802 is the next generation of the Link Compact Data Acquisition System. It uses a Windows XP Embedded operating system to provide superb operation and to support additional system features and enhancements.

Like its predecessor, the 3802 uses an embedded computer which eliminates the requirement for a laptop computer for testing. The Model 3802 can capture up to 45 channels of CAN Bus data from a vehicle’s Controller Area Network. This is in addition to the standard 8 analog, 6 encoder, and 8 temperature channels and optional 6 NVH channels. Expansion modules can provide 8 additional analog channels and 24 additional temperature channels. The Model 3802 also incorporates a voltage module to provide supplemental power during vehicle startup as well as voltage spike suppression. For current 3801 users, an upgrade package will be available to convert most 3801 systems to function as with all the capabilities of a new 3802.

Joe Burchill, sales engineer for the 3802, noted: “This platform allows us to continue provide our customers with a compact, easy to use data acquisition system that now has the capability to record vehicle CAN data. The new operating software means that we can continue to develop the 3802 and add further functionality and features as future.”
