award for the best presentation at the SAE Colloquium 2008. |
A this year’s Brake
Colloquium of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), TMD Friction,
the worldwide leading original equipment manufacturer of brake friction
products, will present five technical papers. This year the Colloquium
will take place from October 11 through October 14 in Tampa, Florida,
U.S.A. It is the industry’s most important international scientific
convention. Jürgen Lange, Director Product Portfolio Management at TMD
Friction, will receive the Allan M. Lang Award for the best presentation
in 2008.
In his presentation at this
year’s SAE Brake Colloquium, Jürgen Lange will explain how the increased
use of hybrid and electric vehicles will change the parameters of the
automobile industry and result in new demands on friction material.
Also, he will receive the Allan M. Lang Award for his SAE Brake
Colloquium 2008 presentation on new methods of measuring the material
compressibility of brake friction products.
At the SAE Brake Colloquium
2009, TMD Friction will present four more technical papers. One of them
will be a paper by Professor
Georg-Peter Ostermeyer,
Director of the Institute for Dynamics and Vibrations at the Technical
University of Braunschweig, Germany, on the simulation of tribologic
properties of friction pairings on brake discs made of ceramics and cast
iron. The paper is based on a joint research project of TMD Friction and
TU Braunschweig. In addition, engineers working at the TMD Friction
development centres in Germany and the U.S. will present the result of
the research on the following subjects:
| ▫ |
Visco-elastic
material properties of a brake pad; authors: Enrique Wegmann,
Dr. Axel Stenkamp, and Achim Dohle |
| ▫ |
New methods of
life time prediction for brake friction products; speakers:
Torsten Holzapfel, Roland Steege, and Gerhard Bauer |
| ▫ |
A study
regarding new approaches for brake noise evaluation and
rating; joint contribution by Wolfgang Hoffrichter and
partners from the industry. |
Ludwig Ervens, Chief
Technology Officer at TMD Friction, said: “The continuity of our
participation in the SAE Brake Colloquium confirms the leadership of TMD
Friction in the research and development of friction materials and their
manufacturing technologies. Our strong presence at this year’s
Colloquium and the award for Jürgen Lange show that the quality of our
work is also acknowledged by the experts.”
