October 2009 - Bendix Demos
Technology to Arkansas Trucking Association
Attendees to Experience Firsthand Advanced Braking, Active Safety
Technologies
Bendix
Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC and Bendix Spicer Foundation Brakes LLC,
the North American leaders in active safety and brake system
technologies, will provide demonstrations of their full-stability,
active cruise with braking, and other advanced safety technologies for
commercial vehicles to members of the Arkansas Trucking Association.
Bendix® ESP®
Electronic Stability Program – a full stability system to help mitigate
rollovers and loss-of-control situations; Bendix® Wingman™ ACB – Active
Cruise with Braking, designed to help drivers avoid rear-end collisions;
SmarTire™ by Bendix CVS tire pressure monitoring system; and
BlindSpotter® side warning technology, which helps alert drivers to
vehicles in their blind spot will be presented and demonstrated
beginning at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 8 at Fayetteville Executive Airport, 4500
S. School Road, Fayetteville, Ark.
“The
Arkansas Trucking Association asked Bendix CVS to participate, and we
are excited to continue to support and educate the trucking industry
about the newest safety technologies,” said Fred Andersky, director of
marketing for Controls at Bendix. “Full stability, active cruise with
braking, and other advanced safety technologies all help drivers to
avoid rollovers, loss-of-control situations, and collisions – major
causes of injuries and fatalities on the road. These technologies
combine to help make heavy trucks and our roadways safer.”
Also at the
event, experts will be on hand to demonstrate the complete lineup of
Bendix® brand foundation brakes available on a full range of OE models
today. These brakes currently meet the new government mandate and offer
application-specific solutions that provide improved safety and reduced
cost-per-mile. Bendix® brand air disc brakes and foundation drum brakes
– from Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake, a joint venture between Bendix
Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC and Dana Commercial Vehicle Products, LLC
– are compatible in a variety of combinations and available on most
North American tractors and trailers.
The
efficient Bendix air disc brakes and foundation drum brakes meet and
exceed the newly mandated reduced stopping distance regulations. Bendix
air disc brakes are proven to significantly reduce stopping distances
for commercial vehicles; virtually eliminate brake fade with no
degradation of stopping power; enable a passenger car-like feel; and
permit straight, stable stops due to high brake efficiency and low
hysteresis. Extensive, ongoing field testing has validated the air disc
brakes’ superior performance advantages relative to stopping distance,
pad and rotor life, and brake fade.
“Our current
range of solutions – air disc brake and foundation drum brake – meet the
new regulations without adding to the complexity of today’s vehicle
brake system,” said Aaron Schwass, director for the foundation brake
group at Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake. “Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake
remains focused on its efforts to advance its braking technologies by
adding cost-effective options that extend and enhance service life,
while enhancing the safety of our North American roadways. We are
honored for the opportunity to share the latest developments with our
industry and the participants at this event.” To register for the
