22nd
January 2010 - Meritor WABCO
Commemorates 20 Years of Aftermarket Support
Meritor WABCO Vehicle
Control Systems, a leading supplier of commercial vehicle braking and
active safety systems, marked its 20th anniversary by emphasizing the
role of its aftermarket organization in the company’s growth. “Our
complete customer support team in Hebron, Ky., in Florence, Ky., and in
district managers across the country makes the world’s most advanced
vehicle control systems easier to understand, use, and service,” said
Jon Morrison, president of Meritor WABCO Vehicle Control Systems.
“They’re integral to our customers’ and our company’s success.”
Meritor WABCO’s
aftermarket business has grown five percent each year since 1990 and has
shipped over 8.1 million units to date. Morrison attributes the growth
to several elements:
| ¤ |
Diverse product
line: In 1990, antilock brake components accounted for 100
percent of Meritor WABCO’s aftermarket sales. Today that figure
is roughly 50 percent as the company has expanded its
aftermarket catalog to include a range of air dryers,
compressors, valves, and other parts |
| ¤ |
Quality parts:
Meritor WABCO replacement parts meet internationally recognized
quality standards, and come with a one-year warranty.
Aftermarket distributors know that the component inside a
Meritor WABCO box provides genuine-part form, fit, and function.
|
| ¤ |
Diagnostic
support: Meritor WABCO service tools like the PLC DataMaster
diagnostic tool and TOOLBOX™ software make it easy to retrieve
and manage information about ABS performance and help
technicians be more productive. |
| ¤ |
Seamless
fulfillment: Xpresswayplus.com is part of a suite of electronic
ordering and fulfillment services—including
EDI and vendor managed inventory (VMI). It allows up-to-date
views on product availability, pricing, and delivery status and
gives dealers and independent shops alike access to general
service and repair information.
|
| ¤ |
Training:
Customers and distributors have access to a growing catalog of
online tutorials about braking and safety systems, as well as
webinars and intensive by-appointment onsite instruction. The
emphasis is on flexible, effective training that fits the
customer’s schedule and needs.
|
| ¤ |
Field support:
Meritor WABCO field technicians provide world-class expertise
and responsiveness. |
“There are many
instances of this type of commitment from our field technicians,” said
Morrison. “They exemplify the value of using Meritor WABCO components
and replacement parts.”
