You’re Invited to Washington! - Better
Brakes Rule Workshops
The
Department of Ecology (Ecology) is hosting two free, public
workshops on the draft rules to carry out Washington’s Better Brakes
Law. The law restricts the use of heavy metals and asbestos, and
phases out the use of copper in brake pads and shoes. One workshop
will be in-person and one will be hosted online. You are invited
because you have been identified by a member of Ecology’s Better
Brakes Workgroup as a potentially interested person. Please feel
free to pass this invitation along to other people who may be
interested in attending either of the upcoming workshops. For more
information about the law and the draft rules go to Ecology’s Better
Brakes Web site at:
www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/hwtr/betterbrakes.html.
What are the workshops about?
We will review the draft rules and
provide an opportunity for questions and comments.
Who should attend the workshops?
Anyone who is interested in the
Better Brakes law and how it will be implemented should attend
either of the workshops. Compliance with the Better Brakes law falls
mainly on brake manufacturers. However, the law also affects brake
pad distributors, retailers, and installers.
When and where are the workshops?
The in-person workshop is on January
26, 2012, from 9 a.m. until noon (Pacific standard time) in Tukwila,
Washington.
The online workshop is on January 31,
2012, from 10 a.m. until noon (Pacific standard time).
How do I register?
Space is limited so you must register
by visiting
www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/hwtr/betterbrakes.html.
After registering, you will receive
an e-mail with details about the location, agenda, and information
about how to log-in to the online event.
