Mineral Fibres

Lapinus Fibres B.V. is the world’s preferred supplier of engineered mineral fibres products and solutions.

Lapinus is more than a supplier of raw materials. We work closely together with our customers in the development of friction materials, paper- and rubber-based gasket material, plastics, coatings and plasters.

A combination of high-quality raw materials and unsurpassed production know-how allows Lapinus Fibres to determine and control the key properties and parameters of our fibres, such as their chemical composition, fibre length, fibre diameter and shot content. In addition, our processes for the surface treatment of fibres allow us to apply coatings to the fibres that produce specific reactions within the matrix of the composite materials in which they are used.

Rockbrake® mineral fibres are specially engineered for use in non-asbestos organic (NAO) and non-steel friction materials  such as disc pads, linings, blocks and clutch facings. All major friction-material manufacturers in Europe, Japan and America use Rockbrake® products in their formulations, and more and more companies all over the world are replacing their traditional asbestos formulations with NAO formulations using Lapinus’ products.

Rockbrake® properties

Developed and engineered specifically for use in friction materials, the products in the Rockbrake® line have a proven track record and wide use as raw materials in high-performance friction materials. This success is a result of:

 • excellent reinforcement properties;
 • compatibility with phenolic resins;
 • easy processing;
 • high purity, leading to reduced rotor wear and better comfort;
 • consistent quality, resulting in low variations in properties of the friction material;
 • high temperature resistance, leading to reduced fading;
 • Extreme Low Shot (ELS) grades, green alternative for Ceramic fibres in ‘ceramic’ friction formulations.

We do not believe our responsibilities end with consistent product quality and service to our customers. In addition to being ISO 9001 certified, our facilities are ISO 14001 certified, demonstrating our commitment to maintaining the quality of human life and the preservation of our shared environment.

Health & Safety

Roxul®1000 biosoluble fibres (CAS RN 287922-11-6) have been tested at qualified, independent laboratories of RCC and Frauenhofer ITEM pursuant to appropriate European Guidelines and have found to be non-carcinogenic. In other words: our Roxul®1000 fibres are meeting both IARC and EU criteria for non-carcinogenity. This is a reassuring thought for both the end-user and for others handling our fibres during production processes.
